Having retired from the Army on 21 February 2023, I would like to place myself as an enabler and mentor to the youth of our country in Academia–Industry–Defence fusion.

There is a deep void in this area since young scholars are often unaware of the defence needs of our country due to minimal awareness of our defence forces. Moreover, Defence organisations have also not adequately reached out to Academia and Industry regarding existing gaps in Defence operations.

Only in recent years have steps been taken to bridge this divide. However, there is still a long way to go and giant strides are required to reach out to all concerned and fill this gap to make India truly Atma-Nirbhar in Defence.

With my keen interest in Deep Tech, especially in the areas of Communication, Outer Space, Drone Technology and Information Technology, coupled with my exposure to emerging technologies such as Cyber, Deep Learning, AR/VR, IoT and Quantum Technology, I aim to further enhance my efforts towards achieving this objective.

My formal technical qualifications in GIS, IT, Communication, Electronics and Physics, along with my MBA and postgraduate qualifications in International Business and Marketing, provide additional perspectives. My recent focus on FinTech, Public Policy, Geopolitics and Geo-Economics of the IOR, China and South-East Asia further supports my interest in exploring future trends and opportunities in Defence Marketing in the South Asian region.

My years of service in the Indian Army, including my experience in DGQA (Director General of Quality Assurance), have given me valuable experience and expertise for my way ahead. These years of experience have also helped me build contacts across the Defence and education sectors which can contribute positively to furthering this aim.

I was President of Rotary Club, Jammu Elite and then was selected as President of Inner Wheel Club, Jammu Tawi. I have been selected as Assistant Governor of Rotary Club Organization for 2023- 24.

An able administrator, I have done significant work in the field of Women Empowerment, specially Veer Naris and their families. Now I have been selected directly in part of National leadership of this (NCCHWO) Organisation.

Pranjal Palkar

Pranjal Palkar is a talented actress, writer, and social entrepreneur who won the Princess of Maharashtra 2018 title. She holds a Higher Diploma in Russian Language and a Ph.D. in English. She has worked in Hindi and Telugu films like Spicy Love and Sound Party, with exciting upcoming projects like At-Man and Krnola.

Apart from acting, she has appeared in several music videos and web series like Aamhi Cinemavale. She has also served as a judge and producer for Fashion ST 2019 on Zee 24 Taas. Brig Harcharan Singh hails from a family, where 4 generations have served in the Army. His Grand father was a War Wounded and Gallantry Award winner of first WW.

He joined Army in 1981and served in all the difficult areas, including Siachen Glacier. He was also Instructor at Indian Military Academy to train Officers.

After retirement, Brig Harcharan Singh served as Dir, Sainik Welfare Deptt(J&K), from 2015 to 2020.

A keen writer, he is Gold Medal winner of USI Essay Competition 1994. Writes about crucial issues pertaining to welfare of ESM/Veer Naris.

Besides NCCHWO, He representing one more CSO, War Wounded Foundation, to help Disabled Soldiers. NCCHWO to help Veer Naris/Veterans. Under his guidance, Citizens have adopted families of Veer Naris at Jammu and Srinagar. He involved citizens to provide Psychological support to Veer Naris and Disabled Soldiers. He conducts programmes, where citizens honor Veer Naris /Disabled/Decorated Soldiers.He so carries out Projects objected with Social Awareness, Empowerment, Environment, Anti Drug Drives, Motivation to Youth, Environmental protection, Patriotism etc. For carrying out realistic welfare oriented programs, Contribution towards Nation Building and dedication, he was honored with Veterans Achievers Award by COAS in Dec 2024, Navratan Foundation Award by NGOs at Noida in May 2025, AWWA Award in Aug 2025 , Certificate of Appreciation by RM in Sep 2025, and Appreciation by LG J&K,besudes many other felicitation.

The inspiration of learning Karate is helping people of Karnataka, especially School children staring from the age of 4 up to the Senior citizens for self defence and fitness. Honorary Special training programme for the Police Force of the State, by training them in self defence, Street survival techniques, Unarmed, Hand to hand Combat at various centers in Karnataka Associated with YMCA since 1975 in the development of Karate activities. Workshops are done as outreach programs and are free for the underprivileged, Orphanages, poor children, Self defence campaign for women of all ages and guiding force. Conducting more than 300 camps for women alone and more than 1000 camps in general and trained more than 10 lakh students, who had the privilege of learning the skills of Karate-do/Martial Arts.

Dr. Kuppanamada Vasantha Poovaiah (Former NSG Black Cat Commando)

Dr. Vasantha K. P. is a distinguished Indian Army Veteran, Former NSG (Black Cat Commando), International Karate Master, Social Worker, Yoga Promoter, and Community Leader, with over 45 years of dedicated service in martial arts, military leadership, and public welfare.

Born on 10 June 1961 in Parakatageri Village, Kodagu District, Karnataka, he completed his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and was an outstanding sportsperson, winning the National Gold Medal in Cross-Country (Under-16) in 1976.

He joined the Indian Army on 1 August 1980 through The Madras Regimental Centre and served the Nation with distinction for over 21 years. During his military career, he represented the Army in Hockey, Boxing, and Cross-Country before being selected to the elite National Security Guard (NSG) – 51 Special Action Group (Black Cat Commandos). From 1991 to 1994, he participated in Counter-Terrorism, Counter-Hijacking, and VVIP Security Operations, including the historic Hazratbal Operation, Srinagar. He received the Best Student Award during the NSG Commando Course and was honoured with several prestigious military decorations.

Dr. Vasantha began his Karate journey on 10 December 1977 under Sensei R. V. T. Mani and has earned the prestigious 8th Dan Black Belt. He is the Founder, Chief Instructor, and Chief Examiner of the Nihan Goju-Ryu Sports Karate Association.

A Five-Time National Karate Champion, he has participated in over 200 National and International Championships, winning 49 Gold Medals. He has received international recognition through the Kyoshi Award, Grand Master Awards (Malaysia), and serves as an International Judge and Referee affiliated with the WKF, AKF, and KAI.

Over the past four decades, Dr. Vasantha has trained more than 40,000–50,000 individuals, including personnel from the Indian Army, Para Commandos, Police, CRPF, CISF, educational institutions, corporate organisations, and the general public. As part of his mission to empower women, he has voluntarily provided free Self-Defence and Karate training to nearly 20,000 girls and women across Karnataka, particularly in Government schools.

He currently serves as the State President – Karnataka (Civil Defence Cell) and National Coordinator of the National Corruption Control & Human Welfare Organisation (NCCHWO). His humanitarian work includes Blood Donation Camps, Swachh Bharat initiatives, Tree Plantation, Environmental Awareness, Youth Development, Community Welfare Projects, support to Veer Naris (War Widows), and extensive public service during the COVID-19 pandemic.>

His outstanding service has been recognised through numerous prestigious honours, including the Honorary Doctorate (2019) from the National Virtual University for Peace and Education, Shikshana Seva Rathna Award, Prathibha Rathna Award, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Award, Sadhana Rathna Award, Bharath Bhushana Award, Bharath Vibhushana Award, Lala Lajpat Rai Award, and the Bruce Lee International Award.
